By the order of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Vahram Dumanyan, the new order of forming the governing councils of state general educational institutions was approved, which will come into force on April 1. The new order envisages a drastic change in the system of school governing boards.
In particular, the idea of joint and separate school boards is introduced, which is a new approach. In which case a separate council is formed, in which case a joint council. According to the procedure, the board of a general education institution is formed for a period of 3 years, as a board of a separate institution, in the case of schools in settlements with a population of at least 3,000, as a joint board for a maximum of three institutions.
A separate board consists of 9 members, the joint board can have a maximum of 19 members. Who forms the school governing councils? The council members are nominated by the RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture, Sports, the authorized body (marzpetarans, Yerjan municipality), the pedagogical-parent councils, the head of the local self-government body.
The Minister of Education and Science nominates one member in the separate councils of the schools under the jurisdiction of the Marzpetarans, and two members in the joint councils. In the institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science, 4 members are nominated by the Minister of Education and Science, 1 member each by the relevant governor in the regions of the Republic of A
rmenia, and the mayor of Yerevan in the capital. In separate councils of regional institutions, the governor nominates 4 members of the council, two of whom are represented by the head of the local self-government body.
